Finally, killed Makron.....Again!!
Thanks to the spare laptop I got (for some secret mission :-)) I could install windows 2000 and play Quake II again... and finally after 3 weeks of having fun every night and morning shooting down all the Stroggs (alien machines in Quake II) and collecting health, ammos for my favorites rail gun and the super shot gun, I have reached the end of the road...
When I was entering the final shutdown level building where the Strogg leader Makron was, my heart was literally pounding with fear and terror, like where will he be, how will he kill me... Can't explain it more in words - it was one heck of a nerve racking experience! and the sound effects is so good (like in the final level, you could hear the Makron's growl and some war jets flying over the building) that it was like being in a scary movie... of course, this was one thing I really liked now, playing with head phones... It was like I was there in the alien city myself cut off from all the things around me!
Killing Makron himself is not "that" difficult (in medium level of difficulty) even without using Quad damage or Invulnerability - to tell the truth, I had collected around 8 Quad Damages and 3 Invulnerability, quite religiously since the beginning of the game and avoided using them, even while facing Big Gun thinking I will need those for the final showdown.
Here is a video of killing Makron. I think that the video has a red glare because the player has turned on Quad Damage which quadruples your weapon's damaging power :-(
But as they say, its not killing Makron but the Journey that matters :D ... It was tons of fun. Especially, it was so pleasing to the eyes, ears and the heart to see the Rail Gun slugs blast the damned Stroggs into pieces of flesh! btw, just saw that, there is indeed a real army gun called rail gun! flying aliens were the ones that annoyed me... especially the Technicians... they are small, flying and take quite some ammo! Here is the demo video showing the glory of the Rail Gun (the one spitting the slugs with a blue wave which comes after the chain gun and the last one gun showed is the super shotgun) enjoy... :-)
and my favorite villains were the Gladiators and the Gunners! Tanks were okay... but they were little bit slower and they never killed me off-guard as often as the G & G!
okay, here is a video showing a run through of the whole game... pretty good for a flashback!
Quake 2 Done Quick (aka q2dq2) POV
I had tried quake III when it came out and was not impressed with it... got to try Quake 4 after i take some rest, nourishing my body with some good food and air in our good old Earth!
